Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair
NOTE: Oxygen sensor may be difficult to remove if engine temperature is below 120° F. Do not use excessive force, as this may damage threads in
exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe.
NOTE: The pigtail and connector on the oxygen sensor are permanently attached and should not be removed.

Removal of, or damage to, the pigtail or connector may affect proper operation of the sensor.

When replacing the sensor, keep the in-line electrical connector and louvered end free of grease or other contaminants, including cleaning
solvents.

1. Disconnect electrical connector and any attaching hardware, then remove the sensor--Fig 27.
2. Reverse procedure to install. Torque sensor to 30 ft lb.
NOTE: New oxygen sensors are precoated with an anti-seize compound, however, if existing sensor is being reinstalled, coat its threads with a suitable
anti-seize compound.
