3. Lubricate and install the steering gear cylinder pipe seals (2) onto the steering gear cylinder pipes (1).

Note:  You must install the shorter steering gear cylinder pipe first.

4. Place the steering gear cylinder pipe (2) into the steering gear at the valve end of the steering gear (3).
5. Start the steering gear cylinder pipe fitting (1) in the steering gear (4) but do not torque it.

6. Place the longer steering gear cylinder pipe (2) into the steering gear at the valve end of the steering gear (3).
7. Start the steering gear cylinder pipe fitting (1) in the steering gear (4) but do not torque it.

Caution:  Refer to Fastener Caution   (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution).

8. Install the steering gear cylinder pipe retaining plate (2) and bolt (1) and tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
9. Tighten the steering gear cylinder pipe fittings (3) to 19 Nm (14 lb ft).

10. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
11. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding   (See: Power Steering/Power Steering Bleeding/Service and

Repair).
