Malibu V8-350 5.7L DSL (1982)
Oil Pan: Service and Repair
The recommended diesel engine oil is SF/CC or SF/CD.
FULL SIZE REAR WHEEL DRIVE MODELS
1.
Disconnect ground cables from batteries.
2.
Remove oil pump drive and vacuum pump, if equipped with A/C, or oil pump drive, if less A/C.
3.
Remove oil dipstick.
4.
Remove radiator upper support and fan shroud attaching screws.
5.
Raise and support vehicle and drain oil pan.
6.
Remove flywheel cover.
7.
Disconnect exhaust and crossover pipes from exhaust manifold.
8.
Remove oil cooler lines at filter base.
9.
Disconnect starter wiring and remove starter.
10.
Remove engine mounts from engine block, then raise front of engine with suitable equipment.
11.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts and the oil pan.
12.
Reverse procedure to install. Torque oil pan attaching bolts to 10 ft. lbs.
FULL SIZE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE MODELS
1.
Disconnect battery ground cables.
2.
Remove three final drive to transmission bolts, then raise and support vehicle.
3.
Disconnect frame brace retaining bolts. Disconnect idler arm and pitman arm from relay rod.
4.
Disconnect drive axles from output shafts.
5.
Disconnect battery cable bracket from output shaft support.
6.
Disconnect output shaft support from engine block.
7.
Position suitable jack under final drive, then remove final drive.
8.
Remove splash shield and starter motor.
9.
Drain oil, then remove oil pan. To remove oil pan, engine must be raised 1-1-1/2 inch using tool No. BT-6501, or equivalent.
10.
Reverse procedure to install.
