15. Steering gear from bulkhead by removing four bolts from gear mounting brackets.
16. Steering gear from vehicle by:
a. Slide steering gear slightly to the drivers's-side, then rotate it counterclockwise so that the pinion gear is between the transmission case and the
frame rail.
b. Slide steering gear to the passenger side until the left-side outer tie rod has cleared through the frame opening.
c. Lower the steering gear on a 45° angle and remove steering gear from vehicle.
Install or Connect
1. Steering gear to vehicle:
a. Bring steering gear unit from underneath engine compartment.
b. Slide in the right side of the steering gear through the passenger-side tie rod frame opening. To ease installation, steering gear must be on a 45
degree angle relative to the vehicle AND the pinion shaft must be facing down (toward the floor).
c. Raise the steering gear so that it is parallel to the vehicle, then slide in the driver's side outer tie rod through the frame opening.
d. Rotate the steering gear clockwise until the pinion gear touches the transaxle case, then slide steering gear slightly to the driver's side and
continue rotating.
e. Align the pinion shaft through the floor opening.
2. Steering gear to bulkhead; secure with two mounting brackets and four bolts.

Tighten steering gear mounting bracket bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Unplug steering gear assembly inlet and outlet pipes.
4. Cylinder pipe assemblies A and B to steering gear.
