7. Remove the clutch release shaft lower bushing (1) from the transaxle case using the J 37158-A.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Inspect the transaxle input shaft sleeve for scoring or other damage. If the sleeve is excessively worn or damaged, replace the transaxle case.

Inspect the clutch release shaft return springs for cracks or weakness. Replace if necessary.

Inspect the clutch release shaft for distortion or damage. Replace if necessary.

J 37159 Clutch Shaft Inner Bushing Installer

J 36190 Driver Handle
1. Install the clutch release shaft lower bushing (1) into the transaxle case using the J 37159 with the J 36190.
2. Install the clutch release shaft into the transaxle case.
3. Install the manual transaxle assembly into the vehicle.
4. Lubricate the inside of the clutch release shaft upper bushing and clutch release shaft seal with GM P/N 1051344 or equivalent.
5. Install the clutch release shaft upper bushing and the clutch release shaft seal into the transaxle case using the J 34861.
