Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair
Wheel Cylinder Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement.
2. Clean the dirt and foreign material from the wheel cylinder and the brake fluid pipe.
3. Remove the brake pipe from the back of the wheel cylinder. Use a container in order to catch the brake fluid.
4. Remove the following from the vehicle:

The two bolts
^
The wheel cylinder
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the following:

The two bolts
^
The wheel cylinder
^
Tighten the wheel cylinder bolts to 10 Nm (84 in. lbs.).
2. Install the brake pipe fitting to the wheel cylinder.

Tighten the brake pipe fitting to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement
4. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding in Hydraulic Brakes.
