Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 

CAUTION:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Clean the outside of the brake fluid reservoir.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector for the fluid level switch (2). 
4. Clean the cap for the reservoir. 
5. Remove the cap for the reservoir. 
6. Siphon the brake fluid from the reservoir. 
7. Remove the set screw for the reservoir. 
8. Remove the reservoir and the grommets from the master cylinder.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the new grommets into the master cylinder (3).
2. Lubricate the grommets using new, clean brake fluid. Ensure that the grommets are seated properly.
3. Install the reservoir to the master cylinder. 
4. Install the set screw for the reservoir.
5. Connect the electrical connector for the fluid level switch (2).
6. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid GM P/N 12377967 (or equivalent DOT 3 brake fluid).
7. Inspect for fluid leakage.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
