Prizm L4-108 1.8L DOHC VIN 8 MFI (1998)
2. Remove the fuel feed hose quick connect coupling cover.
3. Disconnect the fuel feed hose quick connect coupling from the fuel feed pipe of the fuel rail using the J 43178 Prizm Fuel Line Quick Connect
Separator. Use a shop towel to catch any remaining fuel that may leak. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar). See: Powertrain
Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Line Coupler
4. Install the J 42982 Fuel Pressure Gauge Adapter between the fuel feed pipe of fuel rail and the fuel feed hose.
5. Install the J 34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge (1) to the J 42982 Fuel Pressure Gauge Adapter (2) and tighten securely.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable terminal retainer to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
7. Start the engine.
8. Idle the engine at normal operating temperature.
9. Check the fuel pressure as follows:

301-347 kPa (44-50 psi) with the engine idling.
-
301-347 kPa (44-50 psi) with the engine not running and the ignition switch is ON FUEL PUMP IS RUNNING.
-
Fuel pressure should hold at or above 147 kPa (21 psi) within five minutes of the engine not running while the ignition switch is ON - FUEL
PUMP IS NOT RUNNING.

Removal Procedure
1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
