Drive Belt: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Use a wrench and rotate the belt tensioner clockwise.

2. With pressure applied to the wrench, and tension relieved from the drive belt, remove the accessory drive belt.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. 
2. Remove the right side lower engine splash shield.
3. Properly route and install the accessory drive belt onto the drive pulleys.

4. Use a wrench and rotate the belt tensioner clockwise.
5. With pressure applied to the wrench, install the accessory drive belt.
6. With the accessory drive belt installed properly, release the belt tensioner.
7. Install the right side lower engine splash shield.

NOTICE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

8. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten the battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
