Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system. 

3. Remove the accessory drive belt. 
4. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. 
5. Remove the right side lower engine splash shield. 
6. Remove the following components from the vehicle:

The six water pump bolts

The water pump 

7. Remove the O-ring from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install a new O-ring to the vehicle.
2. Install the water pump to the vehicle.

NOTICE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Use six bolts (1,2) in order to secure the water pump.

Tighten the water pump bolts to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).

4. Install the right side lower engine splash shield.
5. Lower the vehicle.
