Spark Plug Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE:  This engine is equipped with an aluminum cylinder head. Allow the engine to cool before removing spark plugs. Removing the spark plugs
from an engine at operating temperature may damage the spark plug threads in the cylinder head. Also be sure to clean any dirt or debris from around
spark plug holes prior to removing spark plugs.

1. Carefully release the spark plug wires from the plastic retainers on the camshaft cover.
2. Grasp the spark plug boot and twist 1 half turn in each direction in order to release the boot.
3. Remove the spark plug wire(s) from the spark plug(s).
4. Remove the spark plug(s) from the cylinder head.
5. Inspect the spark plug(s) for electrode wear, carbon deposits and insulator damage. Refer to Spark Plug Visual Diagnosis.  See: Starting and

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

IMPORTANT:  Use Denso Type K16TR11 spark plugs (2).

Set the spark plug gap to 1.1 mm (0.043 in).

1. Install the spark plug(s) to the cylinder head.

Tighten
Tighten the spark plug(s) to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

2. Install the spark plug wire(s) to the spark plug(s).
