Wheel Fastener: Service and Repair
Rear Suspension

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Tools Required:
-

J 6627-A Wheel Stud Remover

1. Raise and support the vehicle. 
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in TIRES AND 

WHEELS.

3. Remove the brake drum. Refer to BRAKE DRUM REPLACEMENT in DRUM BRAKES.

4. Install a wheel nut onto the wheel stud.
5. Remove the wheel stud using the J 6627-A.
6. Remove the wheel nut from the wheel stud.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the washer on the wheel stud. Pull the wheel stud into position using a wheel nut.
2. Remove the wheel nut and washer.
3. Install the brake drum. Refer to BRAKE DRUM REPLACEMENT in DRUM BRAKES.
4. Install the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in TIRES AND 

WHEELS.

5. Lower the vehicle.
