Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
Side Impact Sensor Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. See: Air Bag Systems/Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair/Air Bag
Disarming and Arming/Disabling the SIR System
2. Remove the front door sill panel.
3. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel.
4. Remove the front seat belt retractor.
5. Remove the electrical connector.
6. Remove the fasteners (2).
7. Remove the side impact sensor (1)
Installation Procedure
1. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System. See: Air Bag Systems/Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair/Air Bag
Disarming and Arming/Enabling the SIR System
2. Install the side impact sensor (1).
3. Install the fasteners (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices. See: Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service Precautions
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 20 N.m (14 ft lb).
4. Install the electrical connector.
5. Install the front seat belt retractor.
6. Install the center pillar lower trim panel.
7. Install the front door sill panel.
