Transmission Cooler: Service and Repair
Preparation Procedure

1. After the overhauled or serviced transmission is installed in the vehicle, do not connect the oil cooler lines to the transmission fittings.

NOTICE:  Shop air supply must be equipped with a water/oil filter and not exceed 825 kPa (120 psi), or personal injury may result.

2. Remove the fill cap on J 35944 and add 0.6 liter (20-21 ounces) of flushing solution. Do not overfill J 35944 with flushing solution or J 35944 will

require recharging prior to the backflush procedure. Follow the manufacturer's suggested procedures for proper handling of the flushing solution.

3. Secure the fill cap and pressurize the flusher can with shop air to 550-700 kPa (80-100 psi).
4. Secure the discharge hose to the opposite end of the oil cooler line that connects to the lower fitting of the radiator.
5. Clip the discharge hose onto the drain container.
6. Mount the flushing tool to the undercarriage of the vehicle with the tool provided.
7. Secure the hose on the flushing tool to the opposite end of the oil cooler line that is connected to the upper connector on the radiator.
8. With the water valve on the tool in the OFF position, connect the water hose from the water supply to the tool.

Turn on the water supply at the faucet.
