Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair
With Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Throttle Position (TP) Sensor TBI

CAUTION:  The Throttle Position (TP) sensor is an electrical component. Do Not soak in any liquid cleaner or solvent, as damage may result.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Air cleaner and adapter.
2. Electrical connector releasing locking tab.
3. Two TP sensor attaching screw assemblies.
4. TP sensor from throttle body assembly.
5. TP sensor seal.

CAUTION:  The TP sensor is an electrical component and must not be soaked in any liquid cleaner, or solvent, as damage may result.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. TP sensor seal over throttle shaft.
2. With throttle valve closed, install TP sensor on throttle shaft. Rotate counterclockwise to align mounting holes.
3. Two TP sensor attaching screw assemblies.

Tighten

Screw assemblies to 2.0 Nm (18.0 lb. in.).

4. Electrical connector.
5. Air cleaner and adapter.

CAUTION:

The hardware used to attach the Throttle Position (TP) sensor is coated with thread-locking adhesive. If any these parts are removed for service,
inspect the attaching screw threads. There should be enough thread-locking material (adhesive or compound) on the threads to ensure proper
relocking. If not, clean the threads and apply Loctite 262, or equivalent, to the threads before reassembly. Replacement screws are included in the
service screw assortment package. New attaching hardware is included in the service packages.
