Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

Front Wheel Speed Sensor (2WD)

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Tire and wheel.
2. Brake caliper.
3. Hub and rotor.
4. Wheel speed sensor cable electrical connector.
5. 13mm bolt and nut fastening the wheel speed sensor harness clip to the front side of the upper control arm.
6. Clips from wheel speed sensor wire.

^ Save clips for new wheel speed sensor.

7. Two 13mm wheel speed sensor mounting bolts.
8. Two 11mm splash shield mounting bolts.
9. Wheel speed sensor and splash shield assembly.

10. Splash shield gasket.

CLEAN

^ Gasket and knuckle surfaces thoroughly with a dry cloth.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Splash shield gasket.
2. Wheel speed sensor and splash shield.
3. Two 11mm splash shield mounting bolts.

^ Tighten Splash Shield Bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.)

4. Two 13mm wheel speed sensor mounting bolts.

^ Tighten Wheel speed sensor mounting bolts to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).

5. Harness clips on wheel speed sensor wire.

^ Locate clips directly centered over the white paint mark on the wheel speed sensor cable.

6. Harness clips and 13mm fastening bolt and nut to the front side of the upper control arm.
7. Wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
8. Hub and rotor.
9. Brake caliper.

10. Tire and wheel.
