Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

Combination Valve

NOTE:  Prior to replacement of the combination valve, note the identification code on the valve. It is necessary to have the proper code when ordering a
replacement valve.
  
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Two 13 mm bolts fastening the shield and the BPMV to the EHCU mounting bracket.
4. The 2-way electrical connector from the combination valve.
5. Front and rear brake pipes.
6. Three Allen bolts that fasten the combination valve to the BPMV.
7. Combination valve from BPMV.
8. Two transfer tubes.

NOTE:

Do not reuse the transfer tubes. Always install new transfer tubes with a new combination valve.

Verify that the replacement combination valve has the same pin punched identification code as previously noted on the old part.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Two new transfer, tubes into the combination valve until fully seated.
2. Combination valve to BPMV.
3. Three combination valve bolts.

Tighten Bolts In Two Steps:
^

First to 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.)

Second to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.)

4. Front and rear brake pipes to combination valve.

Tighten Brake pipe fittings to 29 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)

5. The 2-way electrical connector.
6. Two 13 mm bolts that fasten the shield and BPMV to the EHCU mounting bracket.

^ Tighten two 13 mm bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).

7. Lower vehicle.
8. Reconnect the negatie battery cable.
9. Bleed the system.
