Timing Cover: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove the crankshaft balancer. 
2. Remove the water pump. Refer to cooling system.
3. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor wire.

4. Remove the crankshaft position sensor bolt.
5. Remove the crankshaft position sensor.

6. Remove the timing cover bolts.

NOTE:  Once the composite timing cover is removed do not reinstall the cover. Always install a new cover.

7. Remove the timing cover.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the front cover.
2. Install cover bolts.

^

Tighten bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).

3. Install the crankshaft position sensor.
4. Install the crankshaft position sensor bolt.

^

Tighten bolt to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).

5. Connect the crankshaft position sensor wire. 
6. Install the water pump.
7. Install the crankshaft balancer.
