Axle Shaft Assembly: Service and Repair
Axle Vibration Dampener Replacement

REAR AXLE VIBRATION DAMPENER REPLACEMENT

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

-

Raise vehicle and support it at the frame.

1. Front dampener nut from the frame mount bracket.
2. Rear dampener bolt and nut from the axle mount bracket.
3. Dampener frame mount bracket from the frame (if necessary).

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Dampener frame mount bracket to the frame (if removed).

Tighten:

-

Bolts to 46 Nm (34 ft. lbs.).

-

Nuts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

2. Rear dampener bolt and nut to the axle mount bracket.

-

Tighten:
-

Bolt to 86 Nm (63 ft. lbs.).

-

Nut to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.).

3. Front dampener nut to the frame mount bracket.

-

Tighten nut to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
