Some vehicles equipped with tilt or tilt and telescope steering columns may experience a squeaking noise when turning the steering wheel in a tilted
position. This can be caused by insufficient grease in the tilting mechanism.
STEERING WHEEL
Step 1 - To check for this condition:
1.
Start engine.
2.
Position steering wheel in the full up position, Fig. 1.
3.
Touching only the rim (so the center pad does not cause a squeak) turn the steering wheel back and forth to the extreme left and right position.
4.
Repeat this procedure at straight on position and full down position.
