Timing Cover: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the front axle assembly (4WD only). Refer to Front Axle Housing Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.
3. Remove the rack and pinion assembly. Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
4. Drain the engine oil.
5. Remove the oil pan.
6. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
7. Remove the cooling fan and shroud. Refer to Fan Replacement in Cooling System.
8. Remove the cooling fan drive belt.
9. Remove the accessory drive belt.
