Alignment: Service and Repair
Front Wheel Alignment
Measuring Front Alignment Angles
Important: Follow the manufacturer's instructions in order to install the alignment equipment.
1. Jounce the front and the rear bumpers three times in order to normalize the suspension prior to measuring angles.
2. Measure the alignment angles and record the readings.
3. If the caster angles are not within the specified range, inspect for damaged suspension and steering components. Replace the components as
necessary. Refer to Suspension Component Inspection.
Front Caster and Camber Adjustment
Important: The camber and the caster cannot be adjusted on this vehicle.
1. Jounce (move up and down) the front end of the vehicle a few times before inspecting the camber and the caster. This action will ensure a correct
reading.
2. Verify that the camber measurement falls within the range of -0.5 to 1.5 degrees
3. Verify that the caster measurement falls within the range of 0.5 to 2.5 degrees.
4. If the camber and the caster measurements do not fall within specifications, inspect the suspension components in order to determine the causes.
4.1. Inspect the suspension components for the following conditions:
^
Damage
^
Looseness
^
Bends
^
Dents
^
Excessive wear
Replace any components that display the above conditions.
Refer to Suspension Component Inspection.
4.2. Inspect the body for conditions that may cause the caster and the camber to be out of specifications.
Repair the body if a condition is found. Refer to Frame and Underbody in Body and Accessories.
Front Toe Adjustment
Use the following steps in order to adjust the toe:
1. Loosen the locknuts.
NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that
application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the
fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or
other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint
clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these
instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.
2. Rotate the left and the right tie rods by the same amount.
