Radiator: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Caution: In order to help avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and the radiator are hot. Scalding fluid and
steam can be blown out under pressure if the cap is removed too soon.
2. Remove the radiator cap.
3. Raise and properly support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Open the drain plug (1).
5. Drain the cooling system.
6. Close the drain plug (1).
7. Remove the transmission oil cooler lines (1) from the bottom of the radiator (automatic transmission only). Cap the open lines to prevent leakage.
