Hood Latch Release Cable: Service and Repair

Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and suitably support the hood.
2. Remove the 2 bolts (2) and the hood primary latch (1) from the front upper panel.
3. Remove the hood primary latch release cable from the hood primary latch (1).

4. Unclip the hood primary latch release cable from the hold down clips.
5. Disconnect the hood primary latch release cable grommet from the body
6. Remove the hood primary latch release handle. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement  (See: Hood Latch/Service and

Repair/Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement) in Body Front End.

7. Attach a piece of mechanic's wire (1) to the hood primary latch release cable (2) in order to aid in the removal and the installation of the release

cable.

8. Pull the hood primary latch release cable through the body.
9. Remove the hood primary latch release cable from the vehicle by pulling the cable from outside the engine compartment.

Important:  The mechanic's wire should remain strung through the body in order to ease the installation of the hood latch release cable
(2).

10. Remove the mechanic's wire (1) from the release cable (2).
