Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:  Refer to SIR Caution In Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT:  In the event of deployment, inspect the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) coil for assembly wire for any signs of scorching,
melting or other damage due to excessive heat. If there is excessive damage to coil assembly, replace the coil assembly.

1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR).

CAUTION:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution In Service Precautions.

2. Remove the mounting bolt hole caps
3. Loosen the steering wheel inflator module TORX(R) bolts completely.

CAUTION:  Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling And Storage Caution in Service Precautions.

4. Remove the steering wheel inflator module from the steering wheel.
5. Remove the inflatable restraint yellow 2-way connector and the horn connector from the steering wheel.
