Condition
Some 2008 and 2009 model year Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and Saturn OUTLOOK vehicles, and some 2009 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles may
exhibit wear which could lead to corrosion in the connector terminal pins at the connection between the body main wiring harness and the front driver
and passenger side impact air bag. Over time, the wear may result in a resistance value that sets a SERVICE AIR BAG System warning message in the
Driver Information Center (DIC). The seat side impact air bag would continue to be fully functional. Over time, and if the SERVICE AIR BAG System
DIC warning message is ignored, the resistance could increase to a level in which the seat side impact air bag may not deploy when commanded in a side
impact crash.
Special Coverage Adjustment
This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date
the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.
Dealers are to replace the front seat-mounted side impact airbag connectors. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.
For 2008 model year vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after December 10, 2010, are covered by
this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to December 10,
2010, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.
For 2009 model year vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after March 8, 2011, are covered by this
special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to March 8, 2011,
must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.
Vehicles Involved
Involved are certain 2008 and 2009 model year Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and Saturn OUTLOOK vehicles, and some 2009 Chevrolet Traverse
vehicles. Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the Applicable Warranties section in the Global Warranty
Management system. Dealership technicians should always check this site to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections
and/or repairs.
