Venture V6-3.4L VIN E (1997)
14. Remove the engine front cover gasket.
15. Remove the coolant pump from the engine front cover. Refer to Cooling System.
16. Clean the engine front cover and engine block gasket surfaces.
17. Inspect the engine front cover for damage to the seals or the gasket surface.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the coolant pump to the engine front cover. Refer to Cooling System.
2. Coat both sides of the lower tabs of the engine front cover gasket with sealant GM P/N 1052080 or equivalent.
3. Install the engine front cover gasket.
4. Install the engine front cover.
5. Install the engine front cover bolts.

Tighten the five small bolts (1) to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).

Tighten the three large bolts (2) to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).

Tighten the two large bolts (3) to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the crankshaft position sensor to the engine front cover. Refer to Powertrain Management.
7. Install the coolant pump pulley. Refer to Cooling System.
8. Install the drive belt shield.

Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
9. Install the lower radiator outlet hose to the coolant pump. Refer to Cooling System.
10. Install the thermostat bypass pipe to the engine front cover. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
11. Install the power steering pump with lines. Refer to Steering and Suspension.
12. Install the drive belt tensioner.
13. Install the crankshaft balancer.
14. Fill the engine with oil.
15. Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Cooling System.
16. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
