This bulletin revises Technical Service Bulletin #14-55-84 which should be removed from your files. California vehicles have been deleted from the
1984 2-.2L-2V passenger car models. Please make corrections to your files.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION
A condition may occur on some subject models of oil in the air filter box.
This oil will have entered the box through the crankcase breather hose and may be identified as a tan or brown color.
PARTS REOUIRED
1 - Hi-Flow PCV Valve PN 5214088*
*DO NOT use this part number PCV valve on 2.2L EFI and Turbo engines as idle speed will be affected.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove and discard original PCV valve.
2.
Install PCV Valve PN 5214088.
3.
Remove air filter box and clean oil residue using an oil solvent material (i.e., brake and carburetor parts cleaner PN 4318037), but do not immerse
in liquid.
4.
Reinstall air filter box with filter element. Start engine, check idle speed, and reset if necessary.
