The Chrysler Infinity Speaker System is a late 1987 introduction option on "E" and "H" body vehicles. Included in this bulletin is a brief background of
the system, as well as pertinent service and parts information.
Background
Chrysler, in conjunction with Infinity Systems, Inc., has created a high performance automotive audio system optimized for the 1987 Chrysler New
Yorker, Chrysler LeBaron GTS, and Dodge Lancer. Using advanced audio measurement techniques, special electronic circuitry compensates for vehicle
acoustic parameters, and has been incorporated into every Chrysler-Infinity Sound System. The radio/cassette player, amplifiers, and speakers have all
been designed to provide the best possible overall performance in each individual vehicle.
The Chrysler-Infinity Sound System utilizes eight speakers in six locations; two IP 3/4" dome tweeters, two 5-1/4" round front door woofers, and two
5-1/2" x 7-1/2" oval coax speakers (tweeter and woofer) in the rear. All woofers in this system have individual amplifiers attached to the back of the
speaker baskets, specially adjusted for each vehicle's acoustics. The tweeters (both IP and rear coax) are individually driven by the four amplifiers in the
radio. There are 32 watts powering the tweeters and an additional 56 watts driving the woofers.
The Chrysler-Infinity Speaker System is only compatible with the proper Chrysler-Infinity radio (indicated on the radio face plate). Aftermarket and
non-Chrysler-Infinity corporate radios will not operate with the Chrysler-Infinity Speaker System.
