Thermostat: Service and Repair

1.
Drain coolant system down to thermostat level.
2.
Remove thermostat housing bolts and housing.
3.
Remove thermostat, discard gasket and clean both gasket sealing surfaces.
4.
Reverse procedure to install. Dip new gasket in water and ensure to center thermostat in water box on gasket.
Note: Manufacturer recommends using a mixture of 50% antifreeze and 50% water.
5.
Refill cooling system, bleed through vent plug until mixture reaches vent hole, then install and tighten plug. Continue to fill until system is full.
