Removal

1.

Disconnect battery cables, isolate the ground (-) cable.

2.

Disconnect speed control servo from battery tray, if equipped.

3.

Remove battery, battery tray, and coolant bottle.

4.

Disconnect sensor electrical connector.

5.

Remove three screws holding sensor to radiator closure panel. Remove left sensor from vehicle.

Installation

IMPORTANT:

YOU MUST USE FASTENER PROVIDED IN SERVICE PACKAGE AND TORQUE PROPERLY TO INSURE OPERATION OF
SYSTEM.

1.

Mount left sensor to engine side of closure panel using three screws provided with new sensor. (Torque 90-120 in.lbs.)

2.

Connect sensor wiring lead to wiring harness.

3.

Replace coolant bottle, battery tray, and battery.

4.

Connect speed control servo to battery tray, (if equipped).

5.

Connect DRB II to ASDM diagnostic connector. (Located at right side of console on G/J-body and at right kick panel on M-body.)

6.

From PASSENGER side of vehicle, turn the ignition key to "ON" position. Exit vehicle with DRB II.

7.

After checking that no one is inside the vehicle, reconnect the negative battery terminal.

8.

Using the DRB II, read and record any fault data including stored faults.

9.

Refer to the Diagnostic Test Manual if any faults found in previous steps.

10.

Erase fault codes using DRB II.

NOTE:

IF PROBLEMS REMAIN, FAULT CODES WILL NOT ERASE.

11.

From the PASSENGER side of vehicle, turn the ignition key to "OFF" then "ON", and observe the instrument cluster airbag light. The light
should go on for 6 to 8 seconds, then go out. The system is functioning normal.

NOTICE:

IF AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT EITHER FAILS TO LIGHT, OR GOES ON AND STAYS ON; THERE IS A SYSTEM
MALFUNCTION. YOU MUST REFER TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST MANUAL AND USE THE DRB II TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE
THE PROBLEM.
