SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Hard shifting into and out of 5th gear. "Scratchy" 5th gear shifts.
DIAGNOSIS
Road test the vehicle and check 5th gear shift effort for being too high or "scratchy" feeling when shifting slowly out of 5th gear.

Strut Retainer Plate
PN 4431894
REPAIR PROCEDURE
If one or both of the above conditions exist, then it will be necessary to replace the 5th gear synchronizer strut retainer plate.
1.
Remove the left front wheel.
2.
Remove transaxle oil fill plug.
3.
Remove transaxle end cover.
4.
Remove 5-speed synchronizer ring.
