2. Connect voltmeter leads across battery terminals as shown.
3. Record base voltage with all electrical components and ignition switch in Off position.
4. Place transaxle in park position and apply parking brake.
5. Start engine.
6. With engine at 1800 RPM and no other electrical loads, battery voltage should not be more than 2.7 volts above base voltage. If voltage is not as

specified, perform on-board diagnostics procedures for overcharging.

7. Record battery voltage with engine at 2400 RPM, blower motor on high speed and headlamps on high beam. Battery voltage should be a minimum

of 0.4 volts above base voltage. If voltage is not as specified, perform on-board diagnostic procedures for inadequate or low charging.

Output Wire Voltage Drop Test

1. Ensure battery is fully charged.
2. Start engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
3. Clean all dirt and corrosion from a small spot on alternator housing.
4. Turn on the following:

a. Headlamps on high beam.
b. A/C system.
c. A/C heater blower switch to high.
d. Radio.
e. Rear window defogger.

5. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter with a millivolt scale to alternator housing attach negative lead of voltmeter to battery negative post.
6. Voltage drop should not exceed 0.2 volts. If voltage drop exceeds 0.2 volts, remove alternator and thoroughly clean surfaces between alternator

and mounting bracket.

Voltage Drop Test

1. Ensure battery is fully charged.
2. Check generator ground path using an ohmmeter. Resistance should not exceed .3 Mega ohms.
3. Connect positive lead of an 18 volt voltmeter to positive lead for generator (B+) output terminal.
4. Connect negative lead to positive battery post.
5. Connect an engine tachometer.
6. Place transaxle in park position and apply parking brake.
7. Start engine and allow to idle for ten minutes.
8. Operate blower motor on high speed and turn headlamps on high beam.
9. Increase engine speed to 2400 RPM and observe voltmeter. Voltmeter should not exceed 0.8 volts.

10. If a higher voltage drop is indicated, clean and tighten all connections between generator and battery.
11. If voltage drop is as specified, system is operating correctly.
