Oil Filter Adapter - Comes Out During Oil Filter Removal

NUMBER: 09-02-99

GROUP: Engine

DATE: April 16, 1999

SUBJECT:
Oil Filter Adapter Coming Out of Engine Block During Removal of Oil Filter

MODELS:
1998 - 1999 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid/LHS/300M

NOTE:

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH A 3.2/3.5L ENGINE.

DISCUSSION:
The engine oil filter to block adapter should not come out of the block when the oil filter is removed. A revised oil filter adapter has been designed to
prevent this from occurring. Any time the oil filter is removed and the adapter comes with it, the adapter should be replaced. Tighten adapter to 40 Nm
(30 ft. lbs.).

NOTE:

IF THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER DOES NOT COME OUT OF THE BLOCK WITH THE OIL FILTER, DO NOT REPLACE THE ADAPTER.
