SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Sunroof water leak. Discoloration to headliner.

DIAGNOSIS

1.

Remove halo moulding.

2.

Sit in front seat with flashlight with all doors, windows, and sunroof panel closed.

3.

Have an assistant apply water pressure with a hose to sunroof slowly around diameter of sunroof.

4.

Use flashlight to pinpoint area of seal which is leaking. If water is coming in between reveal moulding and top of roof skin, follow repair
procedure outlined below.

NOTE:

A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER IS EXPECTED TO WICK THROUGH FLOCKING ON SEAL ADJACENT TO SLIDING
GLASS FRAME. THE TROUGH ACCOMMODATES THIS QUANTITY OF WATER.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Remove welt cord.

2.

Remove panel assembly.

3.

Remove opening weatherseal.

4.

Remove reveal moulding by carefully drilling out attaching rivets.

5.

Remove old sealant from roof opening area.

6.

Remove rust from roof opening area and sunroof parts.

7.

Prime all bare metal around roof opening and sunroof parts.

8.

Seal all old rivet holes with Dolphinite or equivalent sealant.

9.

Apply Dolphinite or equivalent sealant to underside of reveal moulding.

10.

Rivet rear reveal moulding to shim, then across front, then each side.

NOTE:

TAKE CARE TO AVOID OLD RIVET HOLES.

11.

Clean excess sealant from moulding and roof.
