Air Door Actuator / Motor: Service and Repair
Mode Door Actuator - Removal
Front Controls
REMOVAL
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or
service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before
performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions could
result in accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury or death.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the silencer from beneath the driver side of the instrument panel See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument
Panel/Service and Repair/Silencer Panel - Removal.
3. Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the mode door actuator (2).
4. Remove the two screws (3) that secure the mode door actuator to the HVAC air distribution housing (5) and remove the actuator.
Rear Controls
REMOVAL
1. Remove the front center floor console cover See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and Repair/Center Console
Closeout Panel/Removal.
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
3. Disconnect the body wire harness connector (4) from the rear mode door actuator (1).
4. Remove the two screws (3) that secure the mode door actuator to the rear blower motor housing (2) and remove the actuator.
