THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 23-026-04, DATED JULY 16, 2004, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED
FROM YOUR FILES. ALL REVISIONS ARE HIGHLIGHTED WITH **ASTERISKS** AND INCLUDES A REVISED SYMPTOM/CONDITION

SUBJECT:
Front Seat Belt Foul Odor
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the seat belt assembly and removing the foam material behind the seat belt retractor.
MODELS:
2004 - **2005** (CS) Pacifica
NOTE:
**This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before July 9, 2004 (MDH 0709XX).**
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may describe a foul odor from the front seat belt(s).
**The odor does not originate from the seat belt but from the foam to plastic cup material interaction.** Under warm ambient temperatures, the foam
gives off an odor which permeates the plastic cup behind the seat belt retractor, into the seat belt itself. Replacing only the seat belt assembly will not
correct the condition.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator describes and the technician experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
