NUMBER: 03-005-04

GROUP: Differential & Drive Line

DATE: July 26, 2004

SUBJECT:
Rear Axle Seal Weepage Diagnosis

MODELS:

2004-2005

(CS)

Pacifica

NOTE

This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with all wheel drive.

DISCUSSION:

Due to improper diagnosis, some rear differential seals are being replaced for what appears to be a seal leak. Grease is used to lubricate the seal during
installation to the rear differential, after a period of time this grease may migrate to the surrounding housing and appear to look like an oil leak. Seals
should not be replaced for this condition (Fig. 1).
