Thermostat Housing: Service and Repair
Removal

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling system below thermostat housing level.
3. Remove thermostat See: Thermostat/Service and Repair/Engine Coolant Thermostat - Removal.
4. Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor.
5. Disconnect heater supply hose.
6. Turbocharger equipped vehicles:

Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.

Disconnect A/C suction line from A/C compressor See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Hose/Line HVAC/Service and Repair/A/C Line -
Removal/Suction Line.

7. Remove housing (1) attaching bolts (4).
8. Remove housing (1) and gasket.
