PT Cruiser L4-2.4L (2008)
1. Wipe the bearing bore of the knuckle clean of any grease or dirt with a clean, dry shop towel.
2. Place the knuckle in an arbor press with Installer (3), Special Tool C-4698-2, supporting the knuckle from underneath as shown.
3. Place the NEW wheel bearing (2) into the bore of the knuckle. Be sure the wheel bearing is placed squarely into the bore.
4. Place Installer (4), Special Tool 5052, over the outer race of the wheel bearing. Lower the arbor press ram (1) and press the wheel bearing into the
knuckle until it is fully bottomed in the bore of the knuckle.
NOTE: Use only the original or identical replacement bolts to mount the bearing retainer plate (3) to the knuckle.
5. Noting the notch location (1), install the bearing retainer plate on the knuckle as shown. Install the three bearing retainer mounting bolts (2).
Tighten the mounting bolts to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.).
6. Install each of the previously removed wheel mounting studs back into the hub flange as follows:
a. Place the stud in the mounting hole of the hub flange.
b. Place the hub (2) in the arbor press supported by Installer (3), Special Tool C-4698-1, allowing the stud (5) to extend down into the tool.
c. Lower the arbor press ram (1) and press the wheel mounting stud (5) into the hub flange until it is fully seated (4) against the back side on the
hub flange.
d. Repeat the steps (a), (b) and (c) on the remaining two studs.
