Dealer Service Instructions for:
Safety Recall D45 - Left Front Brake Tube
Models
2005
(PT)
Chrysler PT Cruiser
NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a 2.4L High Output Turbocharged engine ("G" or "S" in the 8th VIN Position), a manual
transaxle (Sales Code DDD) and an antilock brake system (ABS) built from August 10, 2004 through September 3, 2004 (MDH 081016 through
090322).
IMPORTANT:
Many of the vehicles within the above build period have already been inspected or repaired and, therefore, have been excluded from this recall.
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer new vehicle inventory. Federal law requires you to stop sale and complete this recall service on these
vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also consider this requirement to apply to used vehicle inventory and should perform this recall on
vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the VIP inquiry process.
Subject
The left front brake tube on about 115 of the above vehicles may contact the transaxle. Prolonged contact could wear a hole in the brake tube and cause a
partial brake system loss. This could cause a crash without warning.
Repair
The left front brake tube must be replaced.
Parts Information
Each dealer to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced will receive enough brake tubes to service 100% of those vehicles.
