Spindle: Description and Operation
SPINDLE DESCRIPTION
A forged rear spindle is mounted to each side of the rear suspension axle. Each spindle attaches to the axle using four mounting bolts. The four
mounting bolts also mount the drum brake support plate (drum brakes) or disc brake adapter (disc brakes) to the axle. The hub and bearing rides on
the spindle.
OPERATION
The spindle moves up and down with the tire and wheel under jounce and rebound conditions.
The spindle acts as a mount for the rear hub and bearing, and rear brakes.
