Drive Belt: Testing and Inspection
GENERATOR AND POWER STEERING OIL PUMP DRIVE
Use a belt tension gauge to check belt tension at the shown point, or check deflection by applying 98 N (22 Lbs.) to the shown point. Tension
should be 440 - 540 N (99 - 121 lbs.) for a used belt and 642 - 838 N (143 - 187 lbs.) for a new belt. Deflection should be 11.5 - 12.5 mm (0.45 -
0.49 inch) for a used belt and 9.0 - 10.5 mm (0.35 - 0.41 inch) for a new belt.
A/C COMPRESSOR DRIVE BELT
Use a belt tension gauge to check belt tension at the shown point, or check deflection by applying 98 N (22 Lbs.) to the shown point. Tension
should be 295 - 385 N (66 - 86 lbs.) for a used belt and 490 - 590 N (110 - 132 lbs.) for a new belt. Deflection should be 8.0 - 9.0 mm (0.32 - 0.35
inch) for a used belt and 7.0 - 8.0 mm (0.28 - 0.32 inch) for a new belt.
