Steering Gear: Service and Repair
Steering Gear Replacement
CAUTION: Before removal of steering gear box, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts, center front wheels and remove ignition key. Failure to do so may
damage SRS clock spring and render SRS system inoperative, risking serious driver injury.
REMOVAL
1. Drain power steering fluid.
2. Remove stabilizer bar.
3. Remove washer tank.
4. Follow removal procedure outlined in the illustration, noting the following.
a. Use special tool to separate tie rod end.
CAUTION:

Tie the cord of the special tool to a nearby part.

Loosen the nut but do not remove it.
