Carefully lift the forward latch bracket and turn it over to expose the bottom of the latch assembly.

Remove the latch actuation cable from the forward latch pawl and remove the assembly from the vehicle (Figure 6).

CAUTION: 

Note how the actuation cable interfaces to the latch pawl

Remove the two latch striker pad bolts and remove the latch from the forward latch bracket.

Cut off switch wiring harness tie strap.

j.

Using a 1/4 inch drill bit, drill out the micro switch mounting rivet (Figure 7).

CAUTION: 

Only drill out the head of the rivet. Do not drill completely through the switch and bracket.

k.

Remove and discard the original deck lid latch micro switch.

NOTE: 

All deck lid switches must be replaced, including those that were installed per RRT 07-025.
