Crankshaft Seal Retainer: Service and Repair
Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Retainer - Removal

REMOVAL

1. Remove the transmission.See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement
2. Remove the flex plate.See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Flex Plate/Service and Repair/Removal
3. Remove the 7 upper bolts (1) holding the rear main seal carrier (3) to the engine block.
4. Remove 2 lower nuts (2) holding the rear main seal carrier (1) to the engine block
5. Remove the rear main seal carrier (1) from the engine block and oil pan.
6. Clean sealant residue from the engine block and oil pan.

NOTE: Seal retainer gasket is bonded to the retainer and must be replaced as an assembly.
