Steering Shaft: Service and Repair
Intermediate Shaft Lower Extension - Removal
REMOVAL
1. Reposition the floor carpeting to access the steering column coupling at the base of the column.
2. Position the front wheels of vehicle (and steering wheel) in the STRAIGHT-AHEAD position.
3. Install steering wheel holder locking steering wheel in STRAIGHT-AHEAD position.
4. Remove the intermediate shaft coupling bolt (1).
5. Separate the intermediate shaft (2) at the base of the column from the intermediate shaft extension (3).
6. Remove fasteners (1) securing shaft seal and cover (2) in place, then lift shaft seal and cover from intermediate shaft extension (4) and floor pan.
