Fuel Rail: Description and Operation
Fuel Rail Assembly
The fuel rail is a steel distribution pipe with mounting points for the fuel pressure regulator, 6 fuel injectors, fuel pressure dampener, and injector wire
harness.
The fuel rail supplies fuel to the injection components, and provides the necessary brackets and fittings to mount the components to the engine. Fuel
enters the fuel rail at the inlet tube, proceeds to the 6 fuel injectors, then to the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pressure dampener. The fuel either
gets injected to the engine or gets returned to the fuel tank depending upon the power demands of the engine. The fuel rail is under constant fuel
pressure and fuel pressure release is required prior to servicing.
