NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO 1997 NS MODELS BUILT PRIOR TO SEPTEMBER 18, 1996 MDH (09-18-XX) AND 1997 GS MODELS
BUILT PRIOR TO SEPTEMBER 26, 1996 MDH (09-26-XX) WITH THE FOLLOWING ENGINE APPLICATIONS:
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
1.
A/C System Error: Compressor will disengage while driving and warm discharge air may be noticed. System will re-engage if throttle is closed,
gear is changed, or A/C mode button is switched off then on.
2.
Starter Stutter: The starter will partially disengage then re-engage one or more times while cranking with audible pinion noise.
3.
EATX 3-2-3 Shift Cycling: The transaxle will cycle between 3rd and 2nd gear, usually while climbing a grade.
4.
MTX Cruise Control Error - 2.4L GS Only: Speed control may work in 3rd and 4th gear but not 5th, proper operation is in 4th and 5th.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using the Mopar Diagnostic System (MDS) or the Diagnostic Scan Tool (DRB III) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures Manual, verify all
engine/transmission systems are functioning as designed. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) are present, record them on the repair order and repair as
necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. If no DTC's are present and one or more of the above symptoms have been experienced perform
the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
THE MDS AND DRB III ARE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS REPAIR AND THE SYSTEM MUST BE OPERATING WITH RELEASE 20
