Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

WARNING:  HOT, PRESSURIZED COOLANT CAN CAUSE INJURY BY SCALDING. COOLING SYSTEM MUST BE PARTIALLY
DRAINED BEFORE REMOVING THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR.
 

1. Drain the cooling system below thermostat level. 
2. Disconnect coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove coolant temperature sensor.

INSTALLATION 

1. Install coolant temperature sensor. Tighten sensor to 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.).
2. Connect electrical connector to sensor.
3. Fill cooling system.
